Science, Technology and the Future of Civilization Development

The human desire to know the natural surroundings, how the stars in the sky shine, how day and night occur, has colored human development since its inception. Primitive human life, which daily struggles with the cruelty of nature, makes it impossible for humans to achieve a detailed understanding of nature. They try to explain the world around them with explanations beyond their power.
Since the division of community members into classes, society has known what is called physical work and mental work which requires the release of minority members of society from work. Some of the minority who are free from daily work then use their spare time to try to reach the essence of human existence. This is the reason behind the great progress in society. Thus the history of the progress of civilization begins from here.
When humans have emerged from the semi-civilized world – in other words, humans have been able to rise and control the forces of nature – since then humans have begun to distinguish themselves from the animal world. Departing from the production power, which at that time was still not as big as what humans have achieved now, we can understand what limited their conclusions. The conclusions they reached were mixed with all kinds of superstition and mythology.
Even with its limitations, human efforts to generalize about nature have continued until now. They try to reach out and see what is outside planet Earth, such as research projects on life outside planet Earth that have been carried out recently. These projects are research that goes far beyond anything that has been achieved by previous civilizations. Far beyond the dreams of Imhotep, Gunadarma and Anaximender.
In our present society, we have seen the potential for a productive force that is so great, it far exceeds that of past civilizations. All human needs can be produced in an instant; the simple loom was replaced by a steam engine; cottage industry is being replaced by manufacturing industry – the greater the demand for the world market, the manufacturing industry is being replaced by modern industry which is far more powerful and capable; the utilization of coal, oil and natural gas energy began to shift with the introduction of Geothermal and Nuclear energy.
Space Journey Mission
Now the capitalist world is hailing again the so-called expeditions into outer space. After several times having fallen into the abyss of crisis, they are trying to re-convince mankind that under capitalism they are able to serve the needs of science.
Let's take a look back at Russia in 1957. They had sent the first satellite Sputnik I out into Earth's orbit. The world is stunned. Immediately there was also a technological crisis coloring the advanced capitalist countries. No one denies all the achievements of Russia's planned economy at that time, in fact they were able to catch up with all the lags and match America.
It is not uncommon, when the economies of advanced capitalist countries such as America, Britain and France suffered setbacks due to World War II, Russia advanced to the historical stage and matched America. This is not a coincidence. We are talking about Russia, which before 1917 was a very backward country under tsarist rule. In just 30 years they have been able to catch up with all the technical, distribution and technological solutions left behind by developed countries which were impossible for capitalist countries to achieve. This was the result of the October Revolution and its planned economy.
The achievement of this first workers' state angered the American rulers who had claimed to be the most advanced country in terms of technology. Knowing that, they try to cover up any weaknesses that exist here and there and try to maintain their national superiority. Millions of dollars were pumped into focusing all their attention on projects into space which they paid for in inflation and rising unemployment.
The planned economy proves its superiority not only in the language of machines, steel and cement, but also in terms of technology and science. It's no exaggeration that nearly a quarter of the world's scientists were born there. Russia made a tremendous achievement for human civilization. And all that they achieved without inflation and unemployment. All these advantages were increasingly recognized by various representatives of the bourgeois intelligentsia; by eminent scientists as well as technicians who cannot turn a blind eye to this fact.
However, after Russia's restoration to Capitalism all these great achievements had to be sunk again. Poverty, unemployment and all social ills are mushrooming. The national problem reappeared and brought national disintegration. Russia's return to the capitalist system meant a decline in science. This article is too short to discuss the causes of the degeneration of the Soviet Union and then the collapse of the Soviet Union, which have been explained at length and in detail in the work of Leon Trotsky, The Revolution Betrayed, the great figure of the October revolution.
This is the first chapter of human civilization. The chapter where humans try to take their destiny in their own hands and change the entire civilization. The first workers' state in Russia unleashed a living and progressive human potential that surpasses that of the capitalist state. We can even witness advanced capitalist countries which in their history have been almost two centuries since the bourgeois revolution have not been able to match what was achieved by the October Revolution: a Labor State and a Planned Economy.
Limitations of Capitalism
Since scientists discovered signs that human life is possible on Mars, all space research projects have been aimed at it. The incessant space expeditions of the 60s sparked by the Soviet Union, demonstrated once again that capitalism is pushing all of its resources into pursuing missions into space. Even though they were able to win this competition, they were unable to solve their basic problems, namely poverty and unemployment.
Recently India has sent an unmanned aircraft to Planet Mars. It is said this trip takes 300 days to get to the orbit of the fourth planet from the sun. This is a novelty in third world capitalist countries. The cheers of the Indian bourgeoisie have achieved what America has achieved. However, behind the cheers, they were hiding the real truth. There were many protests from the community that the project was nothing more than a wasting money project. They said that it would be better if the money was used to overcome poverty which is still a basic problem for Indian society.
As we have said in World Perspectives 2012, “India, like Brazil and India, is seeing high growth rates because of the world trade boom . But this has not solved any of the problems in Indian society. This has increased inequality, with the elite getting richer while the masses continue to live in dire poverty.”
We welcome all scientific projects including space travel projects, as these are the latest breakthroughs in technology and human civilization. But here we look at the things that made the project successful. A condition that supports the next stage of the development of science, in which to approach this we are faced with the fact that the development of science and technology does not take place in the narrow spaces of closed laboratories and is separated from the world around us, but under social conditions. those around it.
Now the social condition that underlies our society is the capitalist system, whose social goals and motives operate on the basis of profit and profit. In the early days of the development of capitalism, they developed machines and technology, and with that, large-scale production was introduced. The introduction of a new technology occurs when the new technology is able to secure a higher average profit and competitive success in the market. Call it the introduction of solar energy which is still pending to this day. This is because when this technology works it will shift the world's oil capitalists. In general, the introduction of this technology is only aimed at lowering commodity prices so that machines and technology here are ways to increase profits.
Now that capitalism is in crisis, the whole myth of progress that the capitalists are praising is a sad reality. All the colossal waste from productive forces is revealed, namely the increasing unemployment rate. In 2013, there were 7.7 million unemployed people in Indonesia, 5.04% of whom were university graduates and this figure means 360 thousand graduates who must be unemployed. In Europe the unemployment rate reached 26.34 million. According to Eurostat data, during February 2013 there were an additional 22 thousand people unemployed in the Eurozone and 76 thousand people in the European Union during the month. 55.7% in Spain, 38.2% in Portugal, 37.8% in Italy, is the youth unemployment rate in these countries. This crisis has also led to savings in the education budget, which means that education costs are increasingly expensive. Those who wish to receive higher education are forced to abandon their aspirations; swell feet and hands in the job market. The knowledge that has been studied in universities has to be abandoned by our scholars because this knowledge does not find its application in the world of work. These facts show how capitalism anarchically destroys the material forces of production in periods of crisis; hinder the growth of the productive forces; cutting edge of scientific creativity; and not only threw millions of workers out of the production process, but also cut the roots of future scientific and technical development. The Future of Humanity
Capitalism is the most wasteful system in human civilization. Leaving millions of people to die of hunger, malnutrition, and unemployment. The latest development of technology that should serve the needs of society has hit human civilization.
Development of Nuclear Energy, Geothermal, solar technology, exploration of the planet Mars is one part of the thousands of technical issues that are still experiencing delays. These problems demand the application of the full potential of the productive forces of mankind.
Capitalism has proven incapable of exploiting all of these possibilities. This is because capitalism does not operate for human civilization, but operates on private ownership of the means of production which actually becomes a shackle for the potential of productive forces.
In order to achieve colossal technological development, our first task is to destroy the obstacles to the potential advancement of the productive forces, to seize all the capital which has hitherto been enjoyed by the bourgeoisie into the hands of the entire working people. Capital that has been seized will be fully used to serve human needs. The problem of unemployment can only be solved by absorbing all the people into industry, thereby reducing working hours. Free time which is the most valuable wealth will be fully used to study science, technology, and the greatest projects in human history. In this way the separation between the work of the brain and the work of the body disappears. Every branch of industry will have scientists, even every worker himself is a scientist. We will witness the most magnificent civilization in the history of mankind. Traveling to outer space is no longer a dream for science-fiction lovers. And this can be achieved under Socialism.
